RIDERCAM® - entertainment on ride

Since its opening in June of this year Europe’s fastest roller coaster, the Furius Baco of PortAventura in Spain, has been producing DVD of onride videos thanks to Ridercam GmbH, the leading company in onride technology. It was indeed a challenge to record high quality onride videos on a coaster accelerating from 0-82mph within 3 seconds. Now RIDERCAM® has added some special features to their onride system that makes it even more interesting for park operators.

Onride photo
In addition to onride video the RIDERCAM® system is now able to take pictures of the passengers at any pre-defined point of the ride. Compared to conventional onride photography where the camera is fixed installed besides the track, the RIDERCAM® system takes the pictures on board of the coaster with the possibility to freely select the snapshot position, even at high speed ride sections. This feature replaces a conventional ride photo system.

Real-time video editing
The RIDERCAM® DVD does not only include a personalized video of someone’s own ride, but also selectable videos of the park and the visited attraction. This feature has been enhanced by merging the ride video together with the attraction video. Use of smooth cross fading and mix of original tone with background music makes the passenger become the main actor in a professional video, another evidence of RIDERCAM® being the leading company in onride technology.

RIDERCAM®LE
A further novelty in the product range is the RIDERCAM®LE system, a small size solution with up to 4 cameras for a wide area of attraction rides, especially for low capacity attractions. RIDERCAM®LE is a complete service package of an onride video system for quick and easy self installation provided with the same functions as the proven RIDERCAM® system.

Opening a new dimension
As a worldwide unique feature RIDERCAM® added a play back function to their sound and video recording onride system. This new feature keeps the passengers fully entertained throughout the entire ride, be it during lifthill or dark ride section, with the RIDERCAM® system all kinds of videos can be shown at any position by use of shock proof LCD screens integrated into the seat in front of the passenger. Also, the video teaser of the past ride can be immediately displayed after breaking. Whereas video is only intended for selected ride sections, sound can be broadcast from boarding till exiting the train as background music, video tone or as typical noise matching the coaster design. With this new technology RIDERCAM® opens the passenger a new dimension of roller coaster riding.
